Meter Banana Fruit

Residents of Ngrangan village, Bayat subdistrict, Klaten, are in uproar following the discovery of a Banan tree whose fruits are unique. Banana fruit in general is only fifty centimeters in each stem, however, this banana of Raja Sewu kind is three meters long, almost touches the ground.

This is the unique banana tree that grows in the yard of the house belonging to Suranto, resident of Ngrangan village, Bayat subdistrict, Klaten. The fruit of the banana tree of Raja kind grow rather unnaturally, because in each stem, the fruit grows upt to three meters long, and almost touches the ground. Because of the uniqueness of the banana, many residents come to Suranto’s house to see it for themselves.

The fruits currently has started to ripen, and residents are struggling for them. They believe that whoever eats the fruit, they will be Overflown with fortune, like the fertile banana tree.

Field Plowing Competition

As many as seventy nine farmers from various areas in Sleman, in Wednesday noon, participated in field plowing competition which was held by the department of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry, Dispertanihut, of Sleman, in the eastern field of Getas hamlet, Tlogodadi village, Mlati subdistrict, Sleman regency. Aside from commemorating the ninety fifth anniversary of Sleman regency, the field plowing competition was also intended for development of agriculture tourism in Sleman.

In the field plowing competition, which was held by department of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry, of Sleman regency, in Wednesday noon, there were four criteria that were assessed. They were, skill, tidiness of plowing, plowing result, sign or communication, and costume, or attire worn by contestants. According to the head of department of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry, of Sleman regency, Riyadi Martoyo, aside from commemorating the ninety fifth anniversary of Sleman regency, in the coming fifteenth of may, the field plowing competition, is also intended to develop agriculture-based tourism, and to grow the interest of young generations, in traditional land processing.
