Hindus in Gunungkidul, in saturday morning, held a prayer ceremony on the occasion of Saraswaty holiday. Saraswati holiday, which is celebrated once every two hundred and ten days, is a tribute to goddess Saraswati, who is known as the goddess of knowledge.

Saraswati holiday is a commemoration of the birth of Sang Hyang Aji Saraswati, which is also made as a symbol of the birth of the knowledge of Veda, or the basic teachings of Hindu religion. By wearing special attire, hundreds of Hindus solemnly participated in the series of prayers.
Aside from listening to spiritual nourishment from the priest of the temple, or Pinandhita, the Hindus also performed a rite of the hoping of grace, and ease in walking life. in the prayer, holy water, or Tirta Suci, was also distributed to the entire present followers, along with the giving of rice, as a symbol of fertility, and prosperity.
