Merapi eruption has caused many new problems, among themErupsi is the potential Occurence of landslide and flash flood. This is caused by many deforested lands in Merapi slope areas, after being hit by hot cloud some time ago.
This is the Merapi slope area that is potential for landslide and flash flood. This region is the area of yellow river dam in Umbulharjo village, Cangkringan, Sleman. The dam has been filled with large rocks that is the materials of Merapi lava. In this area, there are also many fallen tree trunks, and some of them has been carried away by lava flood, and get stuck in the rocks.
Riverside cliffs around yellow river upper has started to collapse, because there is no more tree roots to hold it. Trees around the yellow river dam mostly died from merapi hot cloud.
Meanwhile, other worrisome condition is the loss of flood monitoring sensor device in yellow river upper. The device was lost since a week ago, because of thievery by irresponsible individual.
