Plaited Bamboo panel craftsmen in Karanganom Mudal village, north Klaten, are busy with orders after Merapi eruption. This occurs following the fact that, some residents living in Merapi slope, has started to rebuild their house, although only semi-permanently, with Bamboo.
Since last month, the Bamboo panel craftsmen in Karanganom mudal village has kept on pushing their production, following the many orders from Merapi slope residents who have started rebuilding houses. One of the bamboo panel craftsmen, Walimin, admitted that, in order to meet the panel orders, he is willing to work overtime. In a day, he can make no less than eight meters of Bamboo panel. The price varies from six thousand rupiahs to forty thousand rupiahs a meter.
Walimin added that, the current price of bamboo panel increases by one thousand rupiahs a meter because raw bamboo price has also risen from the previous eight thousand rupiahs into twelve thousand rupiahs. Even then, for Merapi residents, the price increase is not applied.
